Lamar Woodley Made The Favre Sad

I’ll be honest, my Pittsburgh Steelers talks has been somewhat diminshed this season. By no means have I turned in my membership card of Steelers Nation … I’ve just been busy. My post schedule is erratic and seemingly few and far between. This past Sunday’s victory against the Minnesota Vikings was phenomenal, especially due to the fact that the defense showed up BIG.

HA take that Favre and your ridiculous flowing blouse which you call a jersey.

Steelers Win, Nearly Kill A Raven or Two

In case you haven’t seen the video of Ryan Clark laying the debilitating hit on Raven’s RB Willis McGahee last night … well, here it is. Everyone knew this game was going to be ridiculous, considering how Hines Ward got taken out in the early going getting his knee spun around 270 degrees.

Wow. McGahee got jacked up. This morning team doctors reported that despite the savage hit, McGahee was “neurologically intact“, which is good considering everyone thought he died last night.

Ryan Clark is an animal, he has laid down hits like this all season with very little regard for his own well being. Now there is some debate whether or not it was a clean hit, or the fact that the Heinz Field staff played “party music” while McGahee laid motionless on the field could be considered tasteless.

We’re Going For #6

Sunday’s domination of the San Diego Charges brings the Steelers just one step closer to an appearance in Super Bowl XXLIII. That had to be the best third quarter of football I’ve ever seen. It must be some kind of record, holding an offense to only 1 play and 0:17 of possession. While the score went a little higher than my prediction, it was complete and utter domination. My favorite YouTube from Sunday has to be Santonio “Steely McDong” Holmes’ punt return for a TD set to the Mario Bros. 8-bit soundtrack.

This weekend we face yet another match up with the hated divisional rivals the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship. It’s a well documented fact that Steelers/Ravens games are brutal. It was the Ravens after all, that jump started Big Ben’s career when Ray-Ray & Company effectively paralyzed Tommy Maddox in their first meeting in the 2004 season. The hate which the fans possess for their respective opponent is incalculable.

Sunday’s game won’t be easy. It will be a strong, defensive contest and I’m feeling confident and I will calling for another Steeler’s AFC Championship with 23-13 victory of Ray Ray’s Ravens.

Playoffs! A Pretty Regular Thing In Pittsburgh

T Minus 4 hours and change before the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Whales Vagina Chargers in the frigid confines of Heinz Field. The last time these two teams met the Steelers walked away with an 11-10 victory. A daunting game, which featured an excellent defensive performance from Troy Polomalu.

Despite Ben’s most recent concussion in the last regular season of the season, I have confidence that he’ll lead the Black & Gold to another AFC Championship.

The Steelers’ defensive corps has been outstanding this year, led by guys like Troy Polomalu, AP Defensive Player of the Year James Harrison, James Farrior, and Rookie Lamar Woodley have just been stifling this year.

My prediction, Steelers 34-18.

Ben Roethlisberger Is The Last Hope

Looking for something to do this weekend? Then head over to Doubt About It and play their new Ben Roethlisberger video game titled, “The Last Hope” where Big Ben thwarts the Patriots effort to rule the galaxy. I hope this gets picked up by a developer as this has a lot of potential. I’m sure that we can get this in stores well before the Christmas rush.

Ben Roethlisberger is Our Last Hope from The Patriots

Special thanks to the folks at With Leather for the heads up.

Week 10: Even Jesus Hates The Browns

For the second straight week I was unable to watch the Steelers on a Sunday afternoon. So as much as I wanted to inhale some wings and marvel in the awesomenesses that is Ben Roethlisberger, I had to hunker down and get some homework done. This didn’t prevent me from following the game via NFL.com, and damn was it stressful. The Steelers entered halftime down fifteen points and the outlook wasn’t good. Mike Tomlin must have said something fierce, because the offense was revitalized in the second half.

The play of the game had to be Ben’s 30 yd. touchdown run. It’s a shame that Tom Brady and the Pats are getting all the headlines, because Ben is having one hell of a year. He’s emerged as a solid play maker in this his 4th season, and I feel a division title coming our way along with a run into the playoffs. Not only that, but I’m pretty sure that’s 9 wins in a row against Cleveland. They suck.

Next week we’re at the Jets, and it’s not a stretch to say that we’ll be 8-2 after next week. There are two games in December, against that Jags and of course the Pats that make me a little apprehensive due to the fact well … in recent history they’ve given us some trouble. A 13-3 finish is within the realm of possibility … but I don’t want to get ahead of myself.

Week 9: Or Rather, James Harrison Is Unstoppable

I’m usually a little apprehensive about when the Steelers face off against the Suck-Ravens. These games end up being extremely physical, due to the fact that the Ravens play dirty. It was the Ravens after all that ushered in the Big Ben era when Tommy Maddox took a questionable hit in Week 2 of the 2004-05 season. The Steelers have been playing well this season, and as I’ve been saying all along … they look like the Super Bowl XL team. I was feeling good about their Monday Night Football appearance, but apparently James Harrison was feeling significantly better.

James Harrison Destroyed Shit

In what became a 38-7 rout of the Ravens, Harrison had 2 1/2 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and an interception … all in the first half. He terrorized the Raven’s O-Line, and made Steve McNair into his personal tackling dummy. The offense was spectacular as well, with Ben going 13-16 for 209 yds and 5 touchdowns. The Steelers offensive line were spectacular in protecting the pocket and allowing Ben time to pick his targets.

The Steelers abused the Ravens to the point that I almost felt bad for them. It was at that point that I realized that they were the Ravens and deserved no such consideration. I hate the Ravens.

Week 8: Ocho Cinco Got Shut Down

I didn’t get to watch the game due to the fact that it wasn’t nationally broadcast … and I had a final paper due that prevented me from leaving the house to catch it elsewhere. From what I was able to glean from the highlights and the good ‘ol Interweb the Steelers played a solid game. Fast Willie Parker had yet another 100+ yd. game and Hines Ward got on the board with a pair of touchdown receptions.

Next week finds us hosting the Baltimore Suck Ravens for some Monday Night Football, which is always a pause for concern. This season the Steelers are 3-0 at home, however the Ravens always find a way to get and edge on the Black & Gold.

Week 7: Ben’s Got To Sell It Better

Sunday night’s loss to the Denver Broncos shouldn’t have happened. Going into the game, the Broncos had one of the worst run defenses in the league; which coupled with Champ Bailey being out should have been a sure recipe for a victory. However, that was not the case as the Broncos were able to apply pressure to Ben and force crucial turnovers, which proved to be the Steelers downfall. Add to that the inability for the Steeler’s secondary to make a any big plays which made Jay Cutler look like Tom Brady. Down 14 points at halftime, the Steelers came back to tie it up … lifting my hopes until Jason Elam booted the winning field goal.

Tomlin Is Angry

My main criticism of the game was that Ben was awful at selling the play-action. It was absolutely horrendous. We’ve got three conference games in a row and it’s crucial that we rebound from these losses and maintain the lead in the AFC North. There were some bright spots however: The Twin Monoliths that are Miller and Spaeth as well as Nate Washington & Cedric Wilson getting some looks.
